Satsang & Meditation- Getting Present
So often I am asked, “What is, Getting Present?” There is a Free Spirit that lives in every being. This is our infinite, natural, and divine Self. This Self is alive in the simplest gestures of loving-kindness and in the ways we respect others and ourselves. The Free Spirit can often be hidden by the illusions and distractions that so many of us are caught up in.
Attachments to preferences, likes and dislikes, judgments, addictions and fears, keep us from connecting with our innate, bountiful, life- giving energy. The good news, however, is that the Free Spirit Energy can never completely disappear. It is the sacred space in all of us, and the only distance between this boundless beauty of ultimate compassion and wisdom is our own ignorance. We can relearn who we truly are as human beings without forcing blame or resentment on anyone else by closing the gap of our ignorance. The search for Self leads us all to one place, the home within each of us. For some, our true nature may seem foreign at first, but within moments of recognizing our natural abilities, we become more free, energetic, aligned and abundant.
Satsang is a led teaching with time for sharing and feedback, followed by a meditation. This is an opportunity to grow, get real, put the walls down and connect authentically with like-minded souls.

Om or Aum is a mantra that is often chanted at the beginning and end of yoga sessions. Om is both a sound and a symbol rich in religious meaning and depth. It is said to be both the sound of the creation of the universe, and the sound of silence.
Two hours after you eat is generally when you have an empty stomach and it’s okay to practice yoga. If you are starving and want to practice yoga but need some nourishment it’s fine to eat a banana or have a little juice to sustain you through the practice. Just no bean burritos before hitting the mat.
The word hatha means willful or forceful. Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body—especially the main channel, the spine—so that energy can flow freely.
Hatha is also translated as ha meaning “sun” and tha meaning “moon.” This refers to the balance of masculine aspects—active, hot, sun—and feminine aspects—receptive, cool, moon—within all of us. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites
When first starting out try going twice a week then after one month start going three times per week. If you add up to going 5-6 days a week make sure you always have at least one day off so your body can recuperate. Also if you are practicing yoga almost everyday its good idea to mix up the style
No you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga… It’s an urban myth that people who are tight can’t do yoga. Yoga isn’t just stretching its extremely toning, calming, meditative, spiritual, healing and opening. Flexibility is only one aspect of it. Once you practice yoga for a period of time naturally you will gain flexibility with a myriad of other benefits.
The word yoga, from the Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind and is often interpreted as “union” or a method of discipline. A male who practices yoga is called a yogi, a female practitioner, a yogini.
All you really need to begin practicing yoga is your body, your mind, and a bit of curiosity. But it is also helpful to have a pair of yoga leggings, or shorts, and a t-shirt that’s not too baggy. No special footwear is required because you will be barefoot. It’s nice to bring a towel to class with you. As your practice develops you might want to buy your own yoga mat, but most studios will have mats and other props available for you.
We recommend that you check with your physician first.
I have had many pregnant students in my classes. It all depends on how you are feeling. All students should first check with their doctor to make sure they are clear to take this training.
